Corvo

Corvo is the smallest islands on the Azores. Only about 4 x 6 km. You can go there on a small boat from
Flores or by airplane. Here you have a population of less than 360.

If you already are on Flores, take the opportunity and go to Corvo. By boat it takes about 75 minutes. By
airplane only the time of a deep breath. I can recommend the boat trip.

                               There is only one very small town. But it's cozy with its narrow streets and charming buildings. In spite of
                               the small size of the island, there are about 45-50 cars. One road leads to the top of the volcano, which is
                               only visible in clear weather. There is only one restaurant, situated by the road down to the harbour.

                              If you go to Corvo by boat, be sure to return with the same boat. The weather/sea-conditions may not allow
                                the boat to return for several days. The capacity of the boat is limited to about 20 persons. During the summer
                                season the boat leaves Flores at 10.00 a.m. and at 6.30 p.m., and from Corvo at 08.30 a.m. and at 05.00.p.m.
                                I can indeed recommend the boat trip. Then you will see Corvo slowly rises in the horizon. To be sure, ask the
                                tourist office in Santa Cruz for time of departure. Price about 20 EURO.

It can be hard to find cafe's and supermarkets, because of the lack of signs. One cafe is situated almost by the
church, and one on Rua das Pedras. Up the road to the crater passing the post office there is a supermarket.

The road to the crater is paved and takes about 2-3 hours. It goes up-up-up all the way. It's easy to hitchhike.
Some private people might take you to the top by car. Then go down again. It's a very beautiful walk.

There are only few places to stay, and they are all private. Most people might say, that 1 day is enough to visit
Corvo. There is a small campsite situated at the opposite end of the runway.
