3 beautiful golf courses
on the Azores.
On the Azores there are 3 nice golf courses. 2 courses on Sao Miguel, and 1 on
Terceira, all par 72.
I have played all 3 courses several times, and will give my personal opinion about the courses.
During July and
August there are no rush on any of the courses at any day/any time of the day. Not
even on week-ends.
Green fee is 55 €. ( 2006 price for 18 holes.)

Furnas Golf
The course is situated 2-3 km. from Furnas town. Furnas Golf Club and Batalha Golf Club has the same
management. But Furnas course is absolutely the most beautiful and best maintained course on
the Azores. It is
a pleasure to play this course, and a challenge for most players. Many fairways are very undulated. Most
greens are slightly elevated from fairway.
Bunkers don't have sand traps as you might know it, but a very rough kind of gravel with many pebbles.
Batalha Golf Club
The Batalha-course is situated 8-10 km. from Ponta Delgada. Drive from Ponta Delgada towards Faja
de Cima village. About 700 meters on the other side of the village turn right at the sign " CAMPO DE
GOLFO ". The
course is then situated 2-3 km. ahead on your right hand. The Clubhouse is huge and
con-
tains a nice restaurant and Pro shop.
This 27 holes course is fairly maintained, even without watering in the dry season.
The course has several
holes with breathtaking beautiful views. Clubs can be rented.
Terceira Golf Club.

The course is situated 12-15 minutes drive from Lajes Airport close to
Praia da Vitoria. Not that
demanding to play with very wide fairways and few
bunkers.
The course is not very well maintained. You will see a lot of greenkeepers on
the course, but it doesn't
mean that the course is in a good condition.
